Fraser Island Heli Fishing
World Heritage-listed Fraser Island is the world's largest sand island, stretching for over 120km. With its ancient rainforests, freshwater lakes and spectacular coastal landscapes, Fraser Island is an incredible destination on a world scale. And to fly over its diverse scenery by helicopter puts this experience into a category of its own.
Add to this some of the best beach fishing in the world offering a diverse range of fish species including whiting, dart, tailor and jewfish.
From Brisbane, travel across the Island by helicopter and land at the most northern point of the Island to be met by our expert, local fishing guide. Travel to the day's hot-spots by four-wheel drive, jump out and start fishing straight away as your rods and bait are ready to go!
At the conclusion of approximately 4 hours of fishing in a few different locations, travel to a superb pole-house set back just off the beach where you will enjoy a gourmet brunch overlooking the Island and its wildlife, including dingos, kookaburras and a variety of local fauna and flora.
Enjoy the flight back to civilisation, flying low over the eastern coast of the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

What will you catch?
Surf Fishing
During the summer months, surf catches are dominated by whiting and flathead. They frequent the shallows making them great fun for the inexperienced.
Whiting love worms and yabbies and flathead like small baitfish including whitebait, hardiheads and small pilchards. They both take lures and fly.
Hard fighting swallowtail dart are a year-round proposition. They feed on pipis and worms in the shallows making them great fun for the inexperienced angler.
Winter is tailor time as they migrate from the south to breed. There is a closed season between August and September between Waddy Point and Indian head to protect breeding tailor. They primarily feed at daylight and dusk but often turn up in the middle of the day. Tailor eat most fish flesh including mackerel and tuna, as well as pilchards. They readily take lures and fly, particularly attracted to flash colours.
Growing to over 30 kilos, mulloway are a winter proposition. They cruise the deeper holes and gutters feeding on baitfish, top baits including live or fillets of mullet, pilchards, bonito and mackerel.
Throwing lures, anglers have a good chance of other species including bonefish, permit, trevally and even Spanish mackerel.
Offshore
The fish-rich waters off Fraser produce an incredible mix of species including billfish and pelagics on the surface and snapper, pearl perch, red emperor, sweetlip, parrot and cod on the bottom.
Winter months are the best time to fish offshore, during the summer strong current can be a problem. Winter produces the best catches of snapper, pearl perch and red emperor.
During the summer months, pelagic species dominate including amberjack, tuna, mackerel and marlin.
